Jim’s career began in 1992 when he graduated from high school and entered the field of emergency medical services as a paramedic. With a longstanding interest in computers, Jim quickly became the go to IT resource for his dispatch center and a neighboring police station. During this time, he also spent his off hours building computers for fellow paramedics and police officers. In 1996, Jim founded Leftech, a small computer company that quickly gained recognition for producing high quality PCs at a fraction of the cost of commercial alternatives. As the business grew, the team expanded to ten employees. Jim’s work in networking evolved alongside computer sales, and he further diversified Leftech’s services by teaching computer classes to seniors and advertising through the local Penny Saver. A key milestone during this period was securing a contract to build 30 computers for the University of Pittsburgh.
